![]() ![]() And I’ve also found it useful to think through the analogy of an ‘early/mid/late’ game, to remind myself that careers tend to play out over 40 year arcs. ![]() For instance, I’ve written at length on using the ‘ metagame’ to identify the very edges of some skill domain, in order to build a learning syllabus for yourself. ![]() It is sometimes very useful to think of life as a game. So what’s the problem with this view? The problem, of course, is that it uncritically treats life as a game. (Ono tries as much as possible to win on large points, instead of penalties this places him at a disadvantage relative to the rest of his competition). We admire Roger Federer, for instance, who has dominated the top levels of international tennis playing a beautiful - if more difficult! - style of tennis, the same way that Judo players admire Shohei Ono, who has remained undefeated in the -73kg weight category for a few years now, despite consistently going for dominate throw, choke, or armbar. The twist, of course, is that we do admire people who play more difficult games - assuming that they continue to win. And there is some merit to this view: you are not, for instance, more virtuous or heroic or better qualified if you succeed in business by playing a more difficult game nobody is really keeping score that way. The way I articulated it was through the words of my friend Lesley, who said: “you want to make sure you’re playing the actual game, not some more complicated game you’ve made up in your head”. I argued that it was totally possible to take on scrub-like behaviours in business and in life, and that we should be careful when we do so. The problem is they are only trying hard within a construct of fictitious rules that prevent them from ever truly competing. You aren't playing to win.Ī scrub would disagree with this though. You've lost before you even picked which game to play. You can practice forever, but if you can't get over these common hangups, in a sense you've lost before you even started. The scrub mentality is to be so shackled by self-imposed handicaps as to never have any hope of being truly good at a game. Everyone needs time to learn a game and get to a point where they know what they're doing. It sounds like kind of a harsh term, but it's the one that was already in common usage in games to describe a certain type of player, and it made more sense to me to explain that rather than to coin a new term.Ī scrub is not just a bad player. I got a fair amount of reader feedback in the weeks after the piece, and I thought one argument in particular was worth examining in further detail.įirst, a quick recap - in my original essay, I introduced the concept of a ‘scrub’, citing Street Fighter tournament player and game designer David Sirlin: "Scrub" is not a term I made up. Late last year I wrote an essay titled Are You Playing to Play, or Playing to Win? which seems to have haunted a great many people. ![]() ![]() ![]() Live DB materials can be directly assigned to scene elements like own created Octane materials, even by drag & drop them onto the Octane viewport. Now, with the final year of school, they are, once again, forced to face the possibility that their relationship might come to a halt because monsters are not yet allowed into colleges. But they braved that storm and came out stronger than ever. At the start of their relationship, they had to keep it a secret because back then, zombies were not the generally accepted lot in town. The odds seemed to have been stacked against them from the beginning. ![]() We're going to have to see if you guys like Zombies 3, and then we can decide.Yes, despite all the hurdles that come their way, Addison and Zed end up together in the end. "You know what? It leaves it open for a fourth, but it also does a really good job of wrapping it up as well," Milo Manheim told HollywoodLife, adding to Good Morning America: "We're going to have to see about. It doesn't seem to have put off the stars though. Nothing has been officially confirmed as of November 2022 about Zombies 4, except for the threequel being called the "third and final instalment" in March 2021 as we mentioned above. Of course, there's always another species that could arrive in Seabrook to shake up the dynamic again, but it feels like this could be the end. It certainly feels like a definitive place to end the Zombies trilogy as Addison has finally discovered who she is, while there's a bright future ahead for the couple as Zed is accepted into Mountain College so that they can both go there. Zombies 3 ends with the new normal established in Seabrook where cheerleaders, zombies, werewolves, aliens and every other species can live together. The aliens realise she is right and instead of going to Utopia, they beam back down to Seabrook to start their new lives. Being challenged sometimes pushes us to be better," Addison tells them. Zombies 3 isn't about to end on such a downer though. Zed can't join them as he wouldn't survive the space travel and it looks like Zeddison's love story is going to end in their separation. Angie had told her to hide their true selves for their own protection, and Addison's mother reveals that her grandmother always "called you her most precious thing".Īddison's DNA contains the coordinates to Utopia, but unfortunately in order to reach the planet, she has to go with them. You might think this would lead to an awkward conversation with her mother, but she tells her that she's always known. To protect the aliens from the wolves (who are suspicious of their true intentions), Addison reveals herself to be an alien. Angie created the Cheer Off trophy, the Seabrook Cup, and that's where they assume the coordinates to Utopia were hidden by Angie.Īddison manages to win the Seabrook Cup with her squad, but when the aliens scan it, there are no coordinates to be found. Her grandmother fell in love with a human called Eli and to blend in, she went to Seabrook High and became obsessed with cheerleading. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Some Query builders forces the user to redefine the relations between two objects but this information is stored in the PostgreSQL Server and could be used in order to allow the user concentrate in the data to be retrieved. The tables and views could be dragged from the objects tree view (left side of the main window) to the “Drawing Area” in order to add them to the diagram, the Window also will have a button to add tables and views. It can be integrated to the “pgAdmin III Query window”.It is required a Graphical Query Builder for pgAdmin III, so the specifications for my project are: ![]() PostgreSQL administrators will be able to retrieve different information faster each time it is needed and developers will be able to build queries taking care on the information wanted without syntax or naming errors. Please explain in one paragraph what you expect to accomplish with this project: Project Summary: I will develop a Graphical Query Builder for pgAdmin in order to build complex SQL queries from the database structure. Now in its third incarnation, pgAdmin remains the most popular Open Source GUI tool for managing Postgres.Project Name: Graphical Query Builder for pgAdmin III pgAdmin III looked much like pgAdmin II, but it solved all of the problems our (in particular) Japanese Linux-using friends were experiencing. The hard decision was made to rewrite everything again, this time using C++ with the wxWidgets framework. Visual Basic didn't handle internationalization or localization well, nor did it run on platforms other than Windows without the use of WINE, under which it was never particularly stable. This time it wasn't the application design that was holding us back, but rather the choice of technology. I was particularly proud of the design and cleanliness of that code, but by 2002, we needed to start over again. I shut myself away for a couple of weeks whilst my family were away visiting relatives in Scotland and wrote pgAdmin II, using a far more structured and maintainable design that implemented a much more usable user interface. Some years later, we once again found ourselves suffering due to the way the application had been designed. ![]() ![]() Some suitable examples include Cloudflare's and Google's DNS servers. It is easy to replace any part of the qmail system with a different module as long as the new module retains the same interface as the original.Ĭontroversy Security reward and Georgi Guninski's vulnerability Qmail is nearly a completely modular system in which each major function is separated from the other major functions. Qmail also introduces the Quick Mail Transport Protocol (QMTP), an e-mail transmission protocol that is designed to have better performance than Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), the de facto standard and Quick Mail Queuing Protocol (QMQP), a network protocol designed to share e-mail queues between several hosts. Out of the box, mail addressed to "user- wildcard" on qmail hosts is delivered to separate mailboxes, allowing users to publish multiple mail addresses for mailing lists and spam management. Wildcard mailboxes qmail introduced the concept of user-controlled wildcards. Unlike the de facto standard mbox format, which stored all messages in a single file, Maildir avoids many locking and concurrency problems, and can safely be provisioned over NFS. Maildir Bernstein invented the Maildir format for qmail, which splits individual email messages into separate files. Qmail encourages the use of several innovations in mail (some originated by Bernstein, others not): qmail was originally designed as a way for managing large mailing lists.Īt the time of qmail's introduction, Sendmail configuration was notoriously complex, while qmail was simple to configure and deploy. When it was released, qmail was significantly faster than Sendmail, particularly for bulk mail tasks such as mailing list servers. qmail was also implemented with a security-aware replacement to the C standard library, and as a result has not been vulnerable to stack and heap overflows, format string attacks, or temporary file race conditions. ![]() In contrast to sendmail, qmail has a modular architecture composed of mutually untrusting components for instance, the SMTP listener component of qmail runs with different credentials from the queue manager or the SMTP sender. The most popular predecessor to qmail, Sendmail, was not designed with security as a goal, and as a result has been a perennial target for attackers. When first published, qmail was the first security-aware mail transport agent since then, other security-aware MTAs have been published. ![]() ![]() 1 trillion frames Per Second Camera (1).Because one could get closer, one could get a steeper perspective and a sharper depth of field, even with multiple image levels,” Gundlach explained his overall lens preference as: “28mm was my lens. From the mid-1950s, he also used Leica, a small 35mm rangefinder with a wide-angle lens, which was later replaced by Nikon. From 1956 on, he used Hasselblads with interchangeable lenses for images in 6圆cm format, achieving greater variation of perspective and composition. For studio-made cover shots, he used a Linhof large image camera. In 1953 he began to specialize in fashion photography in a journalistic style for the Hamburg-based magazine Film und Frau, Elegante Welt and Annabelle which established him as one of Germany’s most important fashion photographers. During that time, he documented the fashion of Berlin designers, Paris haute couture, as well as portraits and fashion shots of international film stars.įrom his early freelance days until late into the 1950s, Gundlach used a Rolleiflex camera with a built-in 75mm lens. His first freelance publications were theatre and film reports for different magazines like Stern, Quick, and Revue. ![]() After his release from an American POW camp, he studied photography in Kassel between 19. Gundlach got his first camera, an Agfa-Box, in 1938. Gundlach was born in 1926 in Heinebach, Germany. As a landscape photographer, I love extreme wide angle lenses.F.C. I use my 16-35mm for 90% of my photos and I mostly use it at 16mm. When I give lectures about photography, I often hear people saying they have trouble with using extreme wide angle uses just because they are “so wide”. But these lenses require a different approach than your kit lens to get the most out of them. Here are 10 tips on how to use/start using an extreme wide angle lens for landscape photography: #1. Gundlach radar extreme wide angle lens how to# When first starting out with wide angle lenses, instead of using your eyes to look at the scene, use the camera/viewfinder. Keep watching through the viewfinder/live view while holding your camera close to you and see the effect you’re creating. Foregrounds are extremely important when using wide angle lenses. Even very small things like a little rock or plant can appear much bigger in comparison to the background on your photo. That immediately brings me to the next tip: when you see an epic backdrop, look around for small things on the ground that you can point your lens at. The trick is to not get overwhelmed by an epic mountain or waterfall as they will appear rather small in your final photo. Look at the small things around you to include them in the photo. Use smaller apertures (high f-stop numbers) around f/14-f/16 to get as much into focus as possible. This is especially important when you’re close up to a foreground. try not to close your lens too much (f/18-f/22) as this will decrease image quality. Use a technique called ‘focus stacking’ when you can’t get everything into focus in 1 shot. With this technique, you shoot different photos with different focus points and merge them later in Photoshop (a rather simple technique that’s easy to find on Google) #5. Experiment With Distancesĭon’t underestimate the wideness of your lens. When you’re just starting out using extreme wide angles you notice you can almost fit anything in your frame, often way too much. Experience shooting the same subject at different distances. When you’re hiking to a mountain, for example, shoot at different times during your hike and see how this affects the distance between the foreground and backdrop. Small lines and textures on the ground appear huge on your foreground when you hold your camera very low to the ground. The height of which your camera is set makes a huge difference when using very wide angle lenses. Experience shooting the same scene at different heights. The higher you hold your camera from the ground, the more you point the camera down to include more foreground. Know that a super small change of position, tilt, or pan from your camera makes a huge impact on the image. When I have a good scene in mind I always spend quite some time walking around objects to get them in the perfect position of the frame.Įxtreme wide angle lenses can create quite some distortion some times. They often make the sky look distorted and the clouds pointing to the middle. Experiment with a half land/half sky composition (instead of the general rule of thirds) when the sky asks for it. Pay close attention to the corners in your frame, especially the bottom 2 corners. Try to get objects or lines leading into the image close to the corners. This is not a tip for only wide angle lenses. You want to indirectly lead the viewer into your image. Gundlach radar extreme wide angle lens how to#. ![]() |
